About You:  
You are a Technical Artist who has a keen eye for art as well as having a technical skillset in programming. You have worked with artists and engineers, acting as the liaison between the two. You have experience in asset integration and optimization, ensuring both artistic vision and technical limits of the platform are optimized. You will manage art production workflows and pipelines as well as create tools. Lastly, it excites you to take ownership of any technical challenges and bring them to full resolution.

Your Role:  
Reporting to our Chief Creative Officer and working cross-functionally with artists and engineers, you will help integrate art assets into our VR software while optimizing technical boundaries. Your key responsibilities will be to:
– Shape project plans and technical feature sets
– Contribute to rendering and shading techniques and processes
– Research and create tools and rendering/shading techniques
– Find creative solutions within the technical limits of VR
– Create scripts and automation tools when needed
– Help improve the visual quality of assets
– Investigate technical issues and find solutions for them

Your Qualifications:  
– At least 2 years of cinematic/games production experience
– Expert knowledge of 2D and 3D art packages: Maya/Photoshop a must
– Strong understanding of the workflow from asset creation to integration
– Experience using scripting languages (I.e. Python, Blueprint) for pipeline tools
– Solid organization skills with adherence to file structures, naming conventions, and other established protocols
– Ability to self-manage and meet deadlines
– Effective communicator and team player
– A creative solutions-provider with proven ability to debug and resolve technical issues and limitations
– Experience with asset optimization challenges/techniques

Bonus points if you:
– Have experience working with the Unreal game engine
– Have experience with Houdini/Substance Designer
– Canadian Citizen or Permanent Residency preferred
