Überblick über die Studie: Ein 15-jähriger Patient stellte sich mit chronischen Leisten- und Beinschmerzen vor. Der behandelnde Chirurg diagnostizierte bei dem jungen Mann eine verrutschte Femurepiphyse (SCFE) und führte ein perkutanes Pinning-Verfahren (Einsetzen eines Implantats in die Hüfte) durch. Der Chirurg brachte den Patienten später für einen zweiten Versuch, der ebenfalls erfolglos blieb, in den Operationssaal (OR). Diese beiden fehlgeschlagenen chirurgischen Versuche beinhalteten erhebliche Dosen von Anästhetika und Bestrahlung.
