PrecisionOS Expands Into Podiatric Surgery

With AACPM-Aligned Virtual Reality Fracture Curriculum and Industry Partnership

February 20, 2026 [Vancouver, BC]— PrecisionOS announced its formal expansion into podiatric surgical education, launching a case-based, just-in-time training Virtual Reality Fracture Lab featuring cases aligned with AACPM curricular recommendations.

The curriculum spans the full spectrum of podiatric trauma, including forefoot, midfoot, rearfoot, ankle, pediatric, and complex fracture patterns. It is designed to ensure podiatric surgery residents receive consistent, repeatable exposure to critical fracture cases that may not be uniformly encountered in clinical training and enable them to practice just before stepping into the OR.

As part of this expansion, PrecisionOS has partnered with CONMED to embed fracture fixation hardware directly into the VR simulations. This allows residents to train using real implant systems while enabling residency programs to evaluate technical performance, clinical decision-making, and readiness through objective data.

Several podiatric surgery residency programs have already begun integrating the platform, including Kaiser Permanente, University of Western Australia, and St. Joseph’s Health Care, with additional academic medical centers currently in early onboarding.

“Residency programs face growing challenges related to case variability and faculty availability,” said Alan A. MacGill, DPM, FACFAS, an ABFAS board-certified foot and ankle surgeon. “This curriculum helps ensure every podiatric surgery resident can practice and demonstrate proficiency across core trauma cases before independent patient care.  It is the surgical flight simulator that allows safe and repeatable practice for our trainees.”

“CONMED is proud to be the Platinum Sponsor as PrecisionOS expands into podiatric surgery and augments the resident learning curriculum,” said Luke Buza, Vice President & General Manager ConMed Foot & Ankle.  “Medical education is under pressure everywhere with case variability, limited time with faculty, and the need to protect patients while accelerating competency. By embedding real fixation systems into immersive training, we can help programs deliver more consistent skill development and measurable readiness. We’re excited to support the next generation of podiatric surgeons with tools that strengthen confidence, consistency, and ultimately improve quality of care.”

PrecisionOS will showcase its podiatric surgery fracture curriculum and industry partnerships at the upcoming Annual Scientific Conference of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) on February 24-26, with pilot opportunities available for residency programs seeking to elevate their residency education through objective skills assessment. Industry participation and sponsorship opportunities for medical device partners are also available.
