- Note the ZB number located on the sticker on the front of the headset.
- Call 1-877-673-0176
- Press 1 for support.
- Let the support person know the ZB number and they will provide you with a confirmation code.
- IPD adjustment: Use the slider on the bottom left side of the headset to change the distance between the lenses in the headset. Adjust it until the image is clear for you.
- Strap adjustment: Release the straps and adjust it so that the side straps rest where the ear meets the head. Release the top strap and pull the back strap down the back of the head until comfortable.
- Physical headset adjustment: You can adjust the headset itself by rotating the visor up and down so that it is positioned perfectly in front of the eyes.
If you’re having trouble setting up Guardian with your Quest, try the following:
Play Area
- Check to make sure your play area is at least 3 feet by 3 feet (1 meter by 1 meter).
- Move any objects that may keep you from setting your boundaries (example: table, couch, etc.).
Touch Controllers
- Make sure to hold down the trigger on your Touch controller while setting your boundaries.
- Check to make sure you’re not blocking the tracking ring of your Touch controller with your hands or body when setting your boundaries.
- Make sure the batteries in your Touch controllers are not low.
If you’re having trouble with your Oculus Quest causing strain, it may need adjustment. If strain persists, consider a small break from using the headset.
- Make sure the back straps cradle the base of your head.
- Adjust the straps and move the headset up and down until it is resting comfortably on your face.
- Adjust the toggle on the bottom left of the headset until the picture is clear.
- The Headset should be resting lightly on your face.
- Check to see if the batteries need to be changed. Inserting a different battery to see if you can see/control your hands can confirm this.
If you have confirmed that it is not a battery issue, you might need to re-pair your controllers to the headset.
To pair your controller:
- Open the Oculus app and press Settings from the lower right corner of the screen.
- Tap Controllers then tap Left or Right to choose which hand you’d like to pair.
- Once you select a controller, follow the instructions on the Oculus app.
Once you’ve paired your Oculus Quest controllers, the controllers will automatically connect to your headset each time you turn it on, if it’s nearby.
If you feel too tall:
- Crouch down and have the controller touching the physical floor and tap the trigger a couple of times. This will adjust the height so that it properly reflects your height.
If you feel too short:
- Bring the controller to the virtual floor and start tapping the trigger while lowering the controller to the physical floor. This should adjust the height so that properly reflects your height.
- Hold the controllers in front of the headset and look directly ahead and wait a couple of seconds.
- If tracking does not return after doing the above step, holding the power button down (on the side of the headset) and selecting Restart should fix the problem.
- Use a micro-fiber cloth to wipe the cameras that are located on the headset.
If you’re having trouble with your Oculus Quest for any reason, you can try rebooting it to resolve the issue. To reboot your Quest:
- With your headset on, hold the power button on the top of your headset down until you’re prompted with a shut-down screen.
- Select Restart to reboot your Oculus Quest.
To maximize the life of your Oculus Quest’s internal battery, we recommend that you fully power-down the device when it’s not in use. This is especially important if you’ll be traveling with the Quest or carrying it in a bag/case for a period of time.
To power off your Quest and preserve the battery:
- Hold the power button for 3 seconds until a menu appears in your headset.
- Select “Shut down” from the menu.
This will ensure that the device isn’t accidentally turned back to full power mode by either jostling the power button, or from the device falsely detecting that it’s been placed on someone’s head for use.
If you run into any issues with charging your Oculus Quest, try the following steps:
- When charging, ensure your charging cable is connected to your headset properly. If you’re not sure, unplug your charging cable from the headset and power brick, then plug it back in.
- Make sure the LED light on the side of your headset is lit while charging. If the LED light is not lit Orange or Green, your headset is not being properly charged.
- When your headset isn’t charging and isn’t in use, make sure that it is turned off or in sleep mode.
Your Oculus Quest or may have forgotten your previous Guardian if:
- The physical space has changed significantly since the time you set up Guardian. It can look like a new space to the system and will prompt you to set up Guardian again. Examples include:
- You moved furniture and/or changed the wall decor.
- You have lots of people moving around in your play area.
- The lighting has changed significantly since the time you set up Guardian. It can look like a new space to the system and will prompt you to set up Guardian again. Examples include:
- You have prominent windows near the play area and external lighting has changed significantly. Daytime lighting versus nighttime lighting is a common difference that can affect the system’s ability to recall the Guardian boundary.
- The direction of indoor lighting has changed significantly, e.g., light source has moved from one side of room to other.
To help your Quest remember your Guardian in the future, try these tips:
- Stand as close as possible to the center of the intended play area when drawing your Guardian boundary.
- Look around the room when drawing your boundary. Only looking in one direction while drawing your boundary reduces the likelihood of matching your Guardian in the future.
- Ensure that you have appropriate lighting but avoid direct sunlight in your play area. If you can read a book in your play area, that’s sufficient.
To clean your Oculus Quest headset:
- Use a dry cloth to clean the outside of your headset.
- Use non-abrasive, anti-bacterial wipes to clean the straps and the facial interface foam. Don’t use alcohol or an abrasive cleaning solution.
To clean your Quest headset lenses:
- Use a dry optical lens micro-fiber cloth to clean your headset lenses. Don’t use liquid or chemical cleansers.
- Starting from the center of the lens, gently wipe the lens in a circular motion moving outwards.
To clean your Quest controller:
- Use a dry cloth or non-abrasive anti-bacterial wipes to clean your remote. Don’t use alcohol or an abrasive cleaning solution.
You can reset your view from within VR by holding down the Oculus button on the right controller. It is located just under the ‘A’ button.
Make sure that you are physically positioned so that there is nothing obstructing your sides and front and then push and hold the Oculus button for about 3 seconds.
The view should reset so that whichever way you were facing is now in front of you in VR.
